Feeling unsure about what look suits you best? Here are Tilly Mint’s top ten bridal make-up tips to finding ‘the one’ perfect look.

Tilly Mint’s top ten bridal make-up tips

1). It is important to keep up with a skincare routine a few weeks before the wedding, so your skin is fresh and soft. Exfoliating and moisturising are key to preventing dry skin; you don’t want your make-up to feel cakey.

2). Before you proceed to put any foundation on, primer is a must. It helps all your make-up stay in place all day, while you party the night away which is ideal, especially because a lot of brides like to start getting ready early.

3). You MUST stay away from HD foundation. They create flashback in photographs that can make your skin look super washed out. Stick to a matte effect foundation that will stay in place. Look for products with ‘long lasting’ in the name.

4). Keeping with the matte effect, matte lipstick/lip stain will prevent you kissing off your lip colour without it drying out. Nude shades are popular right now, but stick with one that makes you look glowing, not washed out!

5). If you feel like matte isn’t the right look for you, a highlighter is perfect to create a glowing dewy look, but only if you apply it in the right areas. Applying a small amount on your cheek bones, the bridge of your nose and the inner corners of your eye, will naturally accentuate your best features, bringing them out in photographs.

6). Keeping a natural look is preferred by minimum brides but the eyes should always stand out. Keeping your eyeshadow to a minimum, but wearing false lashes, will keep that natural beauty. It will also add that little bit extra to make you feel extra special on your day.

7). On to falsies – individual lashes will look more realistic and subtle than a strip lash. There is nothing worse than worrying all day about your lashes hanging off! Individuals last all day and still look real, but thicker, fuller and longer. Use the range of different lengths for a more natural look.

8). Make sure your eyebrows look like they belong to you! Cartoon effect eyebrows will take away the whole look and it will be the only thing you see in pictures. If your eyebrows are quite thin, use powder instead of a pencil. The powder grabs on to each hair and makes them look fuller. If you are blessed with naturally thick full eyebrows then you probably don’t need to do anything. Use a clear or coloured brow gel that matches your brows to ensure they look neatly groomed.

9). If you’re not doing your own make-up, ensure you plan your make-up trials at least three weeks before the day. Preparation is key so you can ensure you find the perfect look for you. Wear white to the trial so you can see what shades of make-up will look best with your dress.

10).  Be comfortable in your skin. Don’t go overboard, and certainly don’t start experimenting. If you have never worn bright pink lipstick, now is probably not the time to start. Although make-up is an important part of the day, confidence is key!

The most important thing to remember

For any bride, how you look on the day is important. But just remember less is more, and highlighting your best features is enough to look and feel great. As Arbonne say, ‘‘Play up your best features with eye-enhancing products that beautify, luminise and define.’’

Use these tips and come along to an evening of fun that can help you feel confident and happy in your skin!
